Question: My engine died and I'm considering replacing

Hoping I find good advice on putting an engine in my 2008 MINI S. My car died while sitting at a light 4 days ago. I've had it to 2 mechanics and they both concur that I need a new engine. Any advice.? The dealer will give me 1000$. My mini has 98k miles on it. I have been the sole driver since it had 500 miles on it.
I'm very disappointed. Any advice/encouragement?
